Markham River

The Markham River is a river in eastern Papua New Guinea, it originates in the Finisterre Range and flows for 180 km to the Huon Gulf.
There is some kind of connection between the name Markham, who settled as a free man after being pardonned as a convict in Tasmania in about 1860 or so. The region where he settled is called the Huon Valley.
