Markie Post (born Marjorie Armstrong Post on November 4, 1950, in Palo Alto, California) is an actress, best known for her 1985–1992 role as Christine Sullivan on the NBC sitcom Night Court. She later played Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman on Hearts Afire (1992–1995). However, before all of this, she was in The Fall Guy from 1982 to 1985. Her film credits include There's Something About Mary (1998), in which she played Sheila Jensen, the mother of Cameron Diaz's character.
She was a card dealer on the NBC Jim Perry version of Card Sharks. Before that, she was the associate producer of Alex Trebek's short-lived Double Dare. Post also often appeared as a celebrity player on various game shows, at which she usually excelled; she was particularly proficient on Pyramid and Password. She also appeared in the science fiction show Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. She has been a guest actress appearing frequently on Scrubs (playing the mother of Dr. Elliot Reid) and on The District.
She is the daughter of noted scientist Richard F. Post, who is famous for his patents in the fields of nuclear fusion, particle accelerators, and electronic and mechanical energy storage.
Post grew up in Walnut Creek, California, is married to actor and writer Michael A. Ross, and has two daughters.
Post was mentioned on American Dad by Stan Smith when he assumed she was dead and asked, "someone google Markie Post." In addition to this she is frequently mentioned as part of the pop culture of the 1980s.
She is currently working on a movie titled Cook Off! as the character Christine Merriweather. The film is now in production and is scheduled to be released in 2006.
The WB had commissioned a pilot for a new version of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl in 2001 starring Post as Electra Woman and Anne Stedman as Dyna Girl. The new series would be set 25 years after the original series, with a retired Electra Woman brought back into action by a fan of hers who ends up becoming the new Dyna Girl. Although the pilot was shot, the series was not picked up.
Even though the resemblance is quite limited, many fans consider that Kathryn Erbe of the franchise and Markie Post to be physically alike. They have been known to be mistaken for each other, as many people believed Markie Post to act as Detective Alexandra Eames in the Law and Order Series.
