Marques Barrett Houston (born August 4 1981 in Los Angeles, California) is an African American actor and R&B singer, best known as lead singer of boy band Immature/IMx and for his role on the hit show Sister, Sister.
Biography
Marques Houston was born in Los Angeles to Carolyn & Michael Houston. He started band Immature with his childhood friends, Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don "Half-Pint" Santos (who was later replaced by Kelton "LDB" Kessee. Chris Stokes became the manager of the group and they scored chart-topping hits on their debut album "On Our Worst Behavior" in 1992. It was released on Virgin Records. This led to other albums including "Playtime Is Over", "We Got It", and "The Journey. In 1997, Marques' mother Carolyn died of cancer. In 1998, The group changed their name to IMx.
Music Career
Houston began his musical career as the frontman of Immature (IMx)
In 2003, Houston recorded his first solo album with producer Jermaine Dupri, entitled MH. It was moderately successful, but with no major hits.
He recently released sophomore album, Naked. The first single, "All Because Of You," was an Urban chart hit[[Citing sources citation needed]]. The video for the second single "Naked," the title track for the album, became controversial when music networks including BET and MTV refused to air it because of the content. It was edited and now is shown on BET.
"Naked" debuted to 66,000 copies while the second week sold only 30,000 copies for 96,000 copies in two weeks. It fell out of the Top 50 after two weeks.
He is currently working on a new studio album slated for a fall 2006 release. First single "Like This" which features Yung Joc and uses the new "snap" style currently on a lot of rap songs will hit radios late Summer. Tracks that are rumored to be on the new album are "Do It" featuring the Ying Yang Twins (which uses the "whisper" style) and a remix of his hit single "Naked" featuring Mike Jones.
He is currently signed to TUG/Universal records.
