Master of Your Domain

The phrase "master of your domain" was popularized[[Citing sources citation needed]] by the sitcom Seinfeld in the season four episode "The Contest." In this Emmy-winning episode, Seinfeld and his friends make a bet with each other about who can go the longest without masturbating (although cleverly the word itself is never actually used in the episode). The phrase, invented by Cosmo Kramer, was used to ask whether someone had succumbed to temptation or was indeed "master of his domain."
During the course of the episode, the 4 main characters are faced with situations which pressure them to end up masturbating. Kramer gave in very quickly, providing one of the most humorous moments to the episode. Eventually, George wins when Jerry finally caves after the virgin (Jane Leeves) he was dating left him.
The phrase was also used in "The Puffy Shirt" episode, where George was hired as a hand model. He heard of another hand model whose hand became paralyzed in a claw, because the man was so enamored of his hand's beauty that he was attracted to it rather than to women, and was not "the master of his domain."
In the series finale, faced with possible death, George admits to Jerry and the others that he cheated in the contest, but when George cheated was left unclear, leaving the issue of who actually won the contest unresolved. Other terms used:
