Matsuda clan
Encyclopedia : M : MA : MAT : Matsuda clan
The Matsuda clan was a japanese clan that originated around the region of Bizen. The history of the Matsuda clan is relatively unknown until the 15th Century in which they were a growing power in western Bizen province and clashed with the Akamatsu clan. For many years the Matsuda effectively resisted the attacks of the Akamatsu and soon came under the control of the Asahi River valley. The Matsuda then competed against the Urakami and by the Sengoku Period of 1568 the Matsuda had been reduced largely due to the efforts of Ukita Naoie. The Matsuda mainly remained throughout the following periods of japan as a religious clan of Buddhism.
