Matthew John Young (born August 9, 1958 in Pasadena, California) is a former American baseball player. He went to the University of California Los Angeles. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 2nd round of the 1980 amateur draft. His most memorable moment as a major-league baseball player came during his tenure with the Boston Red Sox when he pitched a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians, in Cleveland, and lost. Technically, the game was not classified as an official no-hitter, because Young was not forced to pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning in Cleveland, however the ball from the game is on display at The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.
