McClymonds High School

Before becoming McClymonds Educational Complex, McClymonds Senior High School was a public high school in the West Oakland neighborhood of Oakland, California, USA. It is located at 2607 Myrtle Street.
McClymonds was founded in 1923 and its famous alumni include Barry McGee, baseball players Frank Robinson and Vada Pinson, NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell, and rapper MC Hammer.
Situated within the larger community of West Oakland, McClymonds High School has been one of the worst performing schools in the San Francisco Bay Area with only an API [link] score of about 400 as of 2004 [link].
In 2005, McClymonds High School was divided into three smaller schools: EXCEL (Experience, eXcellence, Community, Empowerment, and Leadership), BEST (Business Entrepreneurial School of Technology), and KiZmet. EXCEL and BEST each serve about 400 high school students, while KiZmet serves middle school students. McClymonds High School is now known as the McClymonds Educational Complex. McClymonds is operated by Oakland Unified School District.
