McCone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Montana. As of 2000, the population is 1,977. Its county seat is Circle6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 6,948 km² (2,683 mi²). 6,844 km² (2,643 mi²) of it is land and 104 km² (40 mi²) of it (1.50%) is water.Adjacent Counties

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 1,977 people, 810 households, and 596 families residing in the county. The population density was 0/km² (1/mi²). There were 1,087 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (0/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 96.97% White, 0.30% Black or African American, 1.06% Native American, 0.30% Asian, and 1.37% from two or more races. 0.96% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 810 households out of which 30.20% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.90% were married couples living together, 3.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.30% were non-families. 24.60% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the county the population was spread out with 24.80% under the age of 18, 5.40% from 18 to 24, 24.30% from 25 to 44, 26.50% from 45 to 64, and 18.90% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 99.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.30 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $29,718, and the median income for a family was $35,887. Males had a median income of $22,768 versus $15,368 for females. The per capita income for the county was $15,162. About 14.10% of families and 16.80% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.40% of those under age 18 and 11.20% of those age 65 or over.
