The Medallion (Amulet of Time) is a magical item from the Prince of Persia game series that resembles an Astrolabe.
Story
The Amulet's story is not very clear. Since it uses powers of the Sands of Time it should have come from The Island of Time. It was probably created at the same time as the sands themselves. In there are special upgrades (a kind of a mystical stone-made machine in the wall), which The Prince finds both in the present and before the creation of the sands. Since those upgrades were there and they were created to give the Medallion special powers, the Medallion probably existed at that time. But, these upgrades are probably irrelevant to the storyline, as health upgrades are a common in-game feature. It should be noted that in The Two Thrones the Vizier mentions finding the Dagger of Time, his staff and an empty hourglass on the Island of Time, but makes no mention of the medallion, since the Prince had it. Whatever its origins, the medallion was given to the Maharajah's daughter, Princess Farah. During the events of ' Farah leaves the Medallion next to the dreaming Prince. From that time forward the Prince carries it with himself, first hidden, then (in Warrior Within) he wears it on his chest in his armor. In the opening intro of ', the Prince removes the Medallion from his armor and throws it overboard while returning to city of Babylon.Medallion Powers
The capabilities of The Medallion had been forgotten after The Maharaja had stolen it. Its powers were rediscovered by the Prince after the events in The Sands of Time. It gives the carrier (just like The Dagger of Time) several powers (new powers are activated each time the Prince uses a new Time Portal) :- Recall - the power of reversing a short period of time
- Eye of the Storm - the power that allows the carrier of the medallion to move faster by slowing down his perception of time
- Ravages of Time - the power that allows the carrier to attack much faster than normal
- Breath of Fate - a sand power that causes an explosion to damage and knock down all normal enemies within the blast
- Wind of Fate - a sand power like Breath of Fate, except it causes more damage, uses twice as many Sands of Time, and has a longer delay of use
- Cyclone of Fate - the most powerful sand power, has the highest damage level, uses three times as many sands of time as Breath of Fate, and has the longest delay
The Medallion also has the ability to make the carrier more resistant to damage (by expanding the Prince's in-game life level) but it must be first put in one of nine life upgrades located on The Island of Time.
