- The film perpetuates the urban legend that the song "Puff, the Magic Dragon" is about smoking marijuana.
- The Byrnes family cat is named "Mr. Jinx".
- Pamela Byrnes' middle name is Martha, and therefore her name will be Pamela Martha Focker after marrying Greg.
- A scene in the movie focuses around the Byrnes family trying on tuxedos for the wedding; in the marriage at the end of the movie, no one is wearing a tuxedo.
- The film seemed to have an association with nu-metal band Korn. Mainly because when Jack and Greg went to the store, and while Greg was talking to the store clerk, the clerk could be seen wearing a Korn t-shirt. Another scene was when Greg went up to Denny's room to borrow some clothes, you could clearly see a Korn poster in the backround.
