Encyclopedia : M : ME : MEL : Melodramma
A Melodramma is an Italian term for opera which was used in the 19th century.
The meaning of the word is different from the English melodrama (a drama of heightened intensity), or musical melodrama in which the effect of declamation is enhanced by background music (which in Italian is melologo).
