Each thrower was given three throws.  The eight best in those three received another three throws, keeping all six.<p>

Frantz Kruger took an early lead, until Lars Riedel, then Virgilijus Alekna raised it in the third round.  Alekna never lost his lead, even extending it in the 5th round.<p>
