{| border=0 align=right |- | In 1977, Mercedes-Benz brought a new van/truck (a.k.a transporter) on the market, which was called T1 internally. Other designations were series TN and Bremen Transporter, since the vehicle was built in a factory near Bremen.The T1 was a durable vehicle, which as box cars, minibuses and plank bed cars (also as double cab) with three different wheel bases. The permissible total weights were enough from 2,55 t to 4.6 t, the drive took place alternatively via gasoline or diesel engines from the own house. Also as live mobile the T1 was used. The T1 was larger than the Volkswagen Transporter, competitor was the Volkswagen LT and the Ford Transit. In 1995, after 18 years of production, the TN/T1 van series were dropped. Successor became the new-designed Sprinter.

Mercedes-Benz TN

The TN van model series included 207 D, 208, 307 D and 308. It debuted between 25 and 29 April, 1977. In September 1981 the 407 D and 409 D was added.

Mercedes-Benz T1

The TN van saw a technical improvement and it was relaunched in March, 1989 as the Mercedes-Benz T1 van. There were two new diesel engines, awarded "Diesel 1989". In 1995, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (The T1N van) was launched, replacing the T1.

Use and popularity of Mercedes-Benz TN and T1

Most of these were used as delivery vans, especially in Spain, Germany and East Europe (Bulgaria), where they were used for bread delivering.
