Metroid Metal

Encyclopedia : M : ME : MET : Metroid Metal

Metroid Metal is a metal interpretation of the original Metroid soundtrack for the NES, originally composed by Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka. The album was recorded beginning in the middle of 2003 and released track by track until completed in September 2004.

Stemage started Metroid Metal by writing variations of the original video game chiptune songs on his guitar, and adding his own personal interpretations, but keeping the basic form of the melodies. It was all recorded on his 4-track recorder with electric guitars, bass guitar, drums and some vocals. He began posting the songs on the internet at MetroidMetal.com one by one, and began to have quite a following of devoted listeners.

The songs are freely available on the Metroid Metal website. The album has also undergone remastering in order to give the tracks a better "flow," as well as improved production, exclusively available as a CD to sponsors of MetroidMetal.com.
