Micah Lincoln Richards (born 24 June, 1988 in Birmingham) is an English footballer who currently plays for Manchester City. He made his first team debut on October 22, 2005 against Arsenal, coming on as a substitute.

Richards grew up in Leeds, but was born in Birmingham as his parents were visiting relatives in the area at the time. He attended Archbishop Cramner C of E primary school and his potential was immediately spotted by the school’s football coach David Moore who drafted Micah into the school’s team despite only being 7. A few years later he played for Leeds City Boys. He attended Wetherby High, near Leeds, and was signed on schoolboy terms by Oldham Athletic at the age of 12. He made the short move to Manchester City in 2001. He also attended the Brazilian Soccer Schools scheme.

Richards is a versatile player who can play as a centre-back, right-back or in central midfield, and has strong aerial ability. He has been praised by Stuart Pearce to be a star of the future - having represented England at junior levels and having impressed for Manchester City reserves - and was given a full debut on 12 February2006 against Charlton Athletic. Since making his first start he has played in the majority of Manchester City's matches, and was named as the club's Young Player of the Year for 2005-06.

Richards came to fame when his bullet header in the 94th minute equalised against Aston Villa -- his hometown team -- to gain City a replay in the 5th Round of the 2006 F.A. Cup. Following the game he was interviewed by Garth Crooks. During the interview he was asked about his goal and used the phrase "fucking hell"[link], and then continued with the interview. At the end of the interview Gary Lineker apologised to the televised audience and put it down to "the inexperience of the young lad".

Richards later played in the second round of the FA Youth Cup Final against Liverpool. He helped his side to a 2-0 win in the match, but Liverpool Youth won the trophy 3-2 on aggregate.
