Michelle Chang is a character in the fighting game series Tekken. She is the adoptive mother of Julia Chang and the unwilling target of Ganryu's affections.

History

Tekken

Michelle is a half-Chinese half-Native American female from Arizona and the adopted mother of Julia Chang. In Tekken 2, she had an amulet which allegedly could control and subdue great powers and spirits and was coveted by Kazuya, who was unsuccessful at taking it away from her. At the conclusion of Tekken 2 (photo right beside) she threw her amulet to the bottom of a lake, probably never to be found again. She studied various Chinese martial arts (Xing Yi showing most) under her Chinese father, who was killed in Tekken by the Mishima Zaibatsu after refusing to tell them where the pendant was hidden.

Tekken 2

In Tekken 2, Michelle's mother has been kidnapped by Kazuya. She had entered in the tournament to find out who kidnapped her mother. 15 years later, during Tekken 3, Michelle trained chang kenpo and various Chinese martial arts to 18 year old Julia Chang. Michelle was also kidnapped by Heihachi Mishima for her amulet, which had the power to awake Ogre with its great power and spirits. Julia had entered the tournament to fight Heihachi and save her mother. Michelle hasn't made an appearance in a Tekken game since (except in Tekken Tag Tournament), so she may have died during the progress of Tekken 3, although the lack of any revenge angle in Julia's storyline could mean that she simply retired from fighting. It is possible that Michelle will return on Tekken 6.
