Mid-Cities

Encyclopedia : M : MI : MID : Mid-Cities

The Dallas-Fort Worth Mid-Cities are the communities that surround the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, filling the four-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth. These communities form the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, and Keller and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth.

Four of these communities, Arlington (population 332,969), Irving (population 191,615), Grand Prairie (population 127,427) and Grapevine (population 42,059) are notable cities in their own right and each ranks among the largest cities in the United States.
