Midtown Madness is a series of racing games set in famous cities around the world. The Midtown Madness games differ from conventional racing games in two significant respects: they feature unconventionally humorous plots, and they allow free roaming through city streets, whereas most racing games only allow following a pre-defined track.

The first two Midtown Madness games were developed by Angel Studios. The third Midtown Madness installment was developed by Digital Illusions CE. Ironically, Midtown Madness 3 released in summer 2003 against Midnight Club 2, which was created by the developer of the first two games (Rockstar San Diego, formerly Angel Studios). All of the Midtown Madness games were published by Microsoft Game Studios.

Games in the series

Objective

There are several types of races. Blitz, Checkpoint, Circuit and Cruise. Win the races in the game and you can unlock new vehicles and paint jobs. Cruise lets you have a ride around the city, but watch out for the cops!

Vehicles

There are a wide variety of famous vehicles to choose from, such as the Ford Mustang, Mini Cooper and the Panoz AIV Roadster. Many fans of the game have created their own cars for the game, based on other popular cars and buses. For example in Hong Kong, many players have made new cities and buses.
