Milcov river
Encyclopedia : M : MI : MIL : Milcov river
The Milcov is a river in eastern Romania. The city of Focşani lies on it.
In 1482 Stephen the Great declared the Milcov to be the boundary between Wallachia and Moldavia. In 19th century, the river was seen by the unionists as the symbol of discord between Wallachia and Moldavia, as seen in the Hora Unirii of Vasile Alecsandri. The border on Milcov remained until 1859, when Wallachia and Moldavia united to form the Principality of Romania.
