Military operation

A military operation is the employment of military resources (for example in a military campaign) to achieve a specific objective. It involves the planning, calculating, or the giving (or receiving) of information. It can involve the carrying out of a strategic, tactical, service, training, or administrative military mission in the process of carrying on combat, including movement, supply, attack, defense, and maneuvers needed to gain the objectives of any battle or campaign. Military operations are often referred to by a code name.
