Milton John Cross (April 16 1897 - January 2, 1975) was a famous announcer on the Metropolican Opera radio broadcast, whom he worked for forty-three years. Throughout his career, he missed a braodcast only twice. Once was his wife's death and the second was his daughter, who died infancy.
Cross died suddenly from a heart attack after one season from the Metropolian Opera season (1974-75). Peter Allen (not the same "Peter Allen" Hugh Jackman plays on Broadway) took his place. He was born in New York City, where he also died.
