Mint Aizawa
Encyclopedia : M : MI : MIN : Mint Aizawa
is a fictional character in the manga and anime series Tokyo Mew Mew. In the Mew Mew Power version, she is known as Corina Bucksworth, and the Italian version calls her Mina.
Her name is a pun, as with all the other characters: Minto or Mint is obvious, and Aizawa, as with all others with a surname, is a colour and a land feature- in this case, dark blue swamp.
History
Manga
Ichigo first ran into Mint at the museum where she and Masaya were on a date. Mint gives Ichigo a handkerchief after she accidentally falls. Later Ichigo runs into her again and Mint tells her that she and Masaya were more interesting than the displays. After they're infused, Ichigo goes with Masaya to return the handkerchief and, on orders from Shirogane, tries to inspect Mint's body for a Mew mark. Mint gets ticked off and tells Ichigo off.. Afterward, much to Ichigo's chagrin, she's assigned to go to Mint's ballet recital, where Mint catches her and asks if she's stalking her. Mint's dog Miki (Mickey in the English manga and dub) turns into a Chimera Animal and Ichigo transforms to fight, but is pinned by the giant dog, which rips the back of Mint's dress open. Ichigo sees the mark and calls for Mint to transform. Eventually she does and drives the Chimera out of Miki's body. Ichigo suggests they make a great team and thinks they might become friends. She reaches out to shake Mint's hand but she slaps it away, saying she doesn't want anything to do with Ichigo.Anime
Ichigo runs into Mint on the street when Miki runs through a puddle and jumps on her. An old lady calls the dog back to her and Mint steps out of a car and picks Miki up, apologizing for the dog. She hands Ichigo a handkerchief and Ichigo notes the softness. Mint says it's made of silk and asks if she's ever heard of silk before. She, the old lady, and Miki leave. Later, Ichigo sees Mint leaving a ballet recital and follows the car back to the house to return the handkerchief. Ichigo inspects the house for a Chimera Animal and Mint tells Ichigo to leave and for Miki not to go near that "vulgar girl". Ichigo storms out of the house and Miki transforms into a Chimera Animal. Ichigo transforms and tries to fight the Chimera Animal but is slammed into the wall. Mint calls for Ichigo not to hurt Miki, and Miki rips the back of Mint's dress open, revealing the mark. Masha spits out a locket and Mint transforms, driving the alien out of Miki's body. Later, Mint is told to work at Cafe Mew Mew and Ichigo tries to become friends with her, but Mint refuses to work with someone so vulgar.Personality
Mint is a somewhat snobby rich girl. She is very good at ballet, and idolizes Zakuro Fujiwara (Renée Roberts), calling her "Onee-sama" ("older sister") as a term of affection in the Japanese manga and anime. She is also very sarcastic, especially around Ichigo, but sometimes can have really good ideas for Ichigo and Masaya. Mint cares a lot about her friends, though she might not show it (besides her actions toward Zakuro Fujiwara). She recently developed a phobia of permanently turning into a bird.
At Café Mew Mew, Mint sits around and drinks tea. She rarely works, and instead chides Ichigo to work harder.
