Mint Blancmanche
Encyclopedia : M : MI : MIN : Mint Blancmanche
The character Mint Blancmanche (ミント ブラマンシュ) is from the anime, manga and dating sim series, Galaxy Angel. Her last name is derived from the name for the dessert blancmange. She pilots the Angel Frame "Trick Master".
In the anime
A blue-haired girl who loves cosplay, particularly wearing full body costumes, but will never, ever be seen by her friends while wearing them (unless it's work-related). Her family is wealthy and she sometimes comes off snobbish (and has a cruel streak), but she normally has a sincere, distinguished politeness in her voice when in conversations with others. She, along with the rest of her family and the family pet, has a pair of white rabbit ear-like appendages just above her normal ears that twitch, rise or droop depending on her feelings. In the last episode of the second season (ONLY in this episode), the Angel Troupe receives a new set of uniforms that actually gives them different powers. During the mission, Mint revealed hers: telekinesis, obviously an extension of her telepathy. In the games
Possessing telepathic abilities, Mint possesses the ability to read the thoughts of others, even if she doesn't want to. This led to her reluctancy to be with others outside the Angel Troupe. As in the anime, Mint comes from the Blancmanche family, a rich and powerful business family, the family is so powerful that, despite the rest of the Transbaal Empire being in chaos, it can still provide resources for Elsior. She also enjoys dressing up in costumes and, to her horror, is seen by Takuto while dressed as a giant hamster. Her Angel Frame "Trick Master" is armed with "Fliers", remotely-controlled weapons similar to the Psycommu system weapons of the UC Gundam universe, namely, the funnels or bits of the mecha Elmeth, Sazabi or Nu Gundam.
In the first game "Galaxy Angel", if Takuto chooses to take her to the dance that occurs halfway into the game, there will eventually be an event where her father Darno attempts to take her away from the Elsior and the Angels. Takuto personally goes to confront him and bring Mint back. At the end of the game, Mint and Takuto develop a powerful psychic bond, which serves as a precursor to their romance.
In Moonlit Lovers, Mint suffers from some self-esteem issues stemming from the fact that her telepathic powers seemed to be waning (and also removing the bond between her and Takuto) as well as misunderstanding an incident when a half-asleep Chitose hugged Takuto. Her powers eventually return and she and Takuto eventually reconcile.
In the final game Eternal Lovers, Mint's powers go haywire as the result of an injury, broadcasting her thoughts instead of picking up others'. Eventually, even her specially shielded room is unable to contain her powers, forcing her to try to leave the ship. When the other Angels try to stop them, however, they are systematically disabled by Mint's innermost negative thoughts about them (for example, Millfiulle's distraction with sweets or Forte's obsession with guns). Even after Takuto convinces her not to leave, she still has doubts. Eventually, however, Takuto manages to soothe her fears when he is able to find and rescue her when she was accidentally trapped in a ruined building based on her thoughts to him. During the final battle, Takuto joins her aboard the Trickmaster as they attempt what the others fear is a suicide mission.
