It is a Drama, Historical, Romance, Supernatural with a soap opera feel. It has much Japanese history, involved with the feutal era and the feutal underworld. Where the warring lords of the feutal era continue their struggle for the land. They are beginning to spill out into the present... which is the fuel for the story.
The has been released in North America by Media Blasters. In 2006, every single episode is shown on Direct TV channel 533 at midnight, 5:00a.m., and 3:00p.m.
Plot
The story begins in a small Japanese town, where a shrine, that held the spirit of an evil warlord, (Sheen gen) has been destroyed by reincarnations of his servants. Also Takaya Ohgi, a high school student, is noticing a change in his best (only) friend, Yuzuru Narita. Usually Takaya is the bad boy, who skips school and would take on anyone who seemed a threat. But Yuzuru has not been seen at school for days and cannot seem to remember anything except beating up people he doesn't even know.Enter Nobutsuna Naoe (Na boot sue na - Now way), an older man who calls himself a holy man, who is really a possessor (a person who can perform magic and remember their past lives). He is keeping watch on the two. As Yuzuru is plague with the disgruntle spirits of an underworld army, Naoe steps in to assist. He also convinces Takaya he is the reincarnation of Lord Kagetora, another possessor and Lord of the ancient Uesugi (Yu a su gee) clan, which Noae is a member of.
Yuzuru is the unlucky "spiritual vessel" of the evil Lord (Sheen gen) and is eventually possessed by the spirit despite Naoe's best efforts. Naoe need Lord Kagetora's help to exorcise the spirit, but Takaya will not believe his is someone else. It goes all the way to the third episode, until he finally unleashes his possessing powers.
Throughout the rest of the seriess, an underlying romance between Naoe and Takaya almost dilutes the fact that they need to exorcise the spirits of feutal underworld and defeat the clans that wish otherwise.
The 14th episode, Tiger's Eye, is where Naoe finally "snaps" if you will. His love for Takaya, and Takaya's inability to respond, leads to Takaya being assaulted by his loyal servant Naoe. But during most of the episode, they are busy defeated more spirits and clans, until the very end. Naoe gets an offer to be the right hand man of a large company. Which means he would have to leave Takaya, to take the job. Takaya tells him he may go (Naoe never did say he would in fact go), but if he ever decides to come back, he would have to fight him and beat him to "have him". Which leaves fans say leave them hanging hanging, which may be the reason the show never took off, one may never know.
