Mishima Zaibatsu
Encyclopedia : M : MI : MIS : Mishima Zaibatsu
The Mishima Zaibatsu is a fictional Japanese Conglomerate Syndicate featured in Namco's Tekken fighting game series.
Basic Information
Owned originally by Jinpachi Mishima, the Zaibatsu was taken over by Heihachi Mishima, who has run the company for over 40 years except for two brief interims. The companies grouped together in the syndicate include the Mishima Financial Empire, the mercenary group known as Tekken Force and Mishima Heavy Industries. The Mishima Zaibatsu is the main sponsor of the King of Iron Fist (Tekken-Ou in Japanese) tournaments, the central events of the video games. Currently, the company is back under the control of Jinpachi Mishima, although the ending of Tekken 5 will ultimately change this (as Jinpachi's ending indicates the end of the world), it seems possible, if somewhat improbable, that Jin's ending will be canon and he will have inherited the conglomerate.Ownership
The constant change of ownership of the Zaibatsu is one of the Tekken series' many little quirks. To date, there are four changes of ownership canonically known:
- Over 40 years ago: Jinpachi Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to Heihachi.
- 24 years ago: Heihachi lost the Zaibatsu to Kazuya.
- 22 years ago: Heihachi reclaimed the Zaibatsu from Kazuya.
- 2 months ago: Heihachi lost the Zaibatsu to Jinpachi.
- Note: Jinpachi apparently lost the Zaibatsu to Jin in Jin's Tekken 5 ending, but if this event is canon is yet arguable.
G Corporation
The Zaibatsu's biggest competition/rival is the G Corporation, (also known as G Corp.) who mass-produce the Jack robots, seemingly from during Tekken 4. They have both been known for ambushing the other. The Tekken Force raided a G Corporation building on Christmas Day, before being attacked by Heihachi's son Kazuya. Once thought dead, Kazuya returned stronger than ever, taking out the Tekken Force soldiers with ease before sending Heihachi a message via their helmet cameras.
