Mitsuteru Yokoyama

Mitsuteru Yokoyama (横山 光輝; Yokoyama Mitsuteru) (June 18 1934 Kobe, Japan - April 15 2004 Tokyo, Japan) was a famous Japanese mangaka or comic artist. Several of his creations, including Tetsujin 28-go (aka Gigantor), Giant Robo, Red Shadow, Otenba Tenshi, Babel II, Mahoutsukai Sally (Sally, the Witch), and Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san were developed into anime series. The major work of his life was the 60 volume retelling of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which won the Manga Artists Association award in 1991.
Yokoyama died in a fire at his home in Tokyo. He was found unconscious in bed with severe burns and died 16 hours later at a hospital near his home.
