Modeste Mbami (born October 9, 1982 in Yaoundé, Cameroon) is a Cameroonian football player who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a midfielder.

Modeste Mbami is a strong player with good tackle skills. Even if he is a defensive midfielder, he likes going forward. Therefore, he has become one of the most important players for the Paris Saint-Germain for counter-attacks.

Mbami stated his career in his country by playing for the Dynamo Douala but he was quickly spotted by a lot of foreign clubs. He joined CS Sedan Ardennes during the summer of 2000. Mbami, who was only 18 years old, played ten matches for his first season in the French first division and helped his club to finish fifth. He rapidly became a team regular and played 60 matches in two seasons. In 2003, his club was relegated to French second division and Mbami decided to sign a five-year contract for the Paris Saint-Germain for 5 million euros.

For his first season for Paris Saint-Germain, Mbami was associated with an another young defensive midfielder, Lorik Cana. In spite of their lack of experience, they took a big part in the club 's good season. The Paris Saint-Germain finished second of the French first division and won the French Cup. The 2004-2005 season was less successful for the club and Mbami was unable to play for a while due to an injury. Mbami showed his talent on the international scene very young. He won the Olympic football games with his country in 2000 in Sydney. He was also in the team which was finalist of the Confederations Cup in 2003 and was part of the Cameroonian 2004 African Nations Cup team, who finished top of their group in the first round of competition, before failing to secure qualification for the semi-finals. But the national Cameroon football team and Mbami were very disappointed when they did not managed to qualify for the 2006 German World Cup. They finished second in their qualification group behind the Côte d'Ivoire.
