A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: mint, rum, powdered sugar, lime juice, and club soda.

- Rum producer Bacardi popularised an updated version of the drink in the early 2000s.
- It was featured in the action film Bad Boys II.
- In 2002 one was used in the James Bond movie Die Another Day.
- In 2003, an episode of The O.C. made reference to a virgin version of the drink.
- In an episode of Family Guy entitled "Brian the Bachelor", Brian the dog references a bartender's ability to create a Mojito and denies that it's a "gay drink".
