Mokujin is a character in the Tekken fighting game series. He is a wooden training dummy who comes to life at the presence of powerful evil. He has no fighting style of his own, and instead swaps between the fighting styles of the other characters.
History
Tekken 3
Mokujin, a wooden combat training doll (Mokujin means "wood person") made from a 2,000 Year Old oak Tree, was awakened by Ogre, the God of Fighting. He is motivated by a desire to help martial artists. After Ogre's defeat in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Mokujin grew lifeless once more.Tekken 5
With the awakening of another evil powerful entity (Jinpachi Mishima), Mokujin has come to life once more. In his ending he defeats Jinpachi, who turns to dust. Mokujin becomes lifeless again and falls to the ground. Dark clouds move across the sky, and a small beam of light hits Mokujin's nose and creates a small plant.Trivia
- Mokujin is the only character not to feature in the opening scene of Tekken 5.
- In Tekken 4, Mokujin is substituted for the less traditional-looking Combot.
- When fighting and using the moves of Yoshimitsu, Mokujin adapts Yoshimitsu's sword. In Tekken 5, he also adapts a tail when fighting as the boxing kangaroo Roger (though in Tekken Tag Tournament Mokujin lacks a tail, but can still use Roger's moves utilizing one.)
- In addition, in Tekken Tag Tournament, when using the moves of Kunimitsu, he will adapt her dagger.
- There is also a pro wrestler who goes by the name "Mokujin Ken", or "Ken the Box".
- There was also a wood spirit character in the Kinnikuman manga and toy series (which made its way to the America as M.U.S.C.L.E.), who was very similar to these characters.
- The alternate costume for him is in fact a female version (it has breasts, the leaf/twig turns into a flower, its eyes glow pink instead of red, and its torso ends on a kind of skirt-shaped formation). However, this does not effect the story or moves.
- Mokujin is adapted from Jackie Chan's Shaolin Chamber of Death (aka 36 Wooden Men).
- Mokujin is pronounced "Mok-u-genie" in Tekken 3 yet pronounced simply "Moke-u-jin" in Tekken 5
- Mokujin made a cameo appearance in Namco's Point Blank 3. The aim was to shoot him.
- Mokujin also made a cameo in the crossover game Namco X Capcom where he is the 'training dummy' used to test combos and such in training mode. He has 99999 HP and cannot fight back. The only thing that will end the fight scene with him is just by either running out of time or branch.
- When playing Story Mode with Mokujin in Tekken 5, he asks Roger Jr. where his children are; however, it has never been stated before that he had children.
- Mokujin cannot be customized in Tekken 5. However, in the update Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Mokujin can be fully customized like any other character.
- Mokujin means "Man made of wood"
