Morecambe F.C. is an English football club based in Morecambe, Lancashire; it currently plays in the Football Conference.

The club was formed on 7 May 1920, after a meeting at the West View Hotel. It plays its home games at Christie Park - Morecambe.

The club has reached the FA Cup 3rd Round on 3 separate occasions. The first being in 1961/62 losing 1-0 to Weymouth, secondly in the 2000/01 season losing to then Premiership opponents Ipswich Town 3-0 at Christie Park and thirdly, again to Ipswich Town in 2002/03, this time at Portman Road, Ipswich. Morecambe lost 4-0 on this occasion. League Clubs beaten in the FA Cup include Chester City in 1961/62, Cambridge United in 2000/01 and Chesterfield in 2002/03.

It was considered one of the main promotion contenders for the 2005/2006 season and reached the Play Offs, but was beaten 4-3 on aggregate by Hereford United, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Christie Park.

In Novemeber 2005 Jim Harvey suffered a heart attack in a League game at Christie Park against Cambridge United . Morecambe lost the game 1-0 in a less than thrilling performance under the circumstances. Quickly the club declared the appointment of a caretaker manager, Sammy McIlroy who was a long time friend of Harvey. After the initial three months expired, McIlroy was given the job for the remainder of the season with Harvey expected to return on its closure.

On his first day back as manager of Morecambe FC, Jim Harvey was sacked by the club and not shockingly Sammy McIlroy was then appointed as permanent manager.
