Mr. Bucket

Encyclopedia : M : MR : MRB : Mr. Bucket

Mr. Bucket is a children's game published by Milton Bradley, and released circa 1992 which has since been discontinued. The game featured a plastic, motorized bucket (Mr. Bucket) who spat out differently colored balls; the player used a plastic shovel to scoop up the balls and place them back inside Mr. Bucket.

Rules

The game was played with each player (maximum of four) selecting a color of balls, and trying to place all three of them in Mr. Bucket before he spits them out. In order to win, a player would have to have all three balls inside of Mr. Bucket at one time.

Jingle Controversy

The jingle for Mr. Bucket has become infamous in some circles for its unintentionally innuendous lyrics, which may have been a factor in the toy's discontinuation.

That's right, I'm Mr. Bucket!
I'm Mr. Bucket toss your balls in my top
I'm Mr. Bucket out of my mouth they will pop
I'm Mr. Bucket!
We're all gonna run!
I'm Mr. Bucket! Buckets of fun!

Awards

Occupational Therapy Associates, one of the nation’s leading clinics in the treatment for sensory problems, included "Mr Bucket" in 2005's list of toys that will help with hand eye coordination.

Replacement and Care

Replacement parts for this discontinued item are available through Hasbro. For twelve (12) replacement balls, it is 3.00 USD. This game should be under adult supervision at all times as stated in the instructional booklet included in Mr. Bucket.

Criminal Career

Mr. Bucket is a convicted violent sex offender. During a 10 year stint in Sing Sing for sodomizing his nephew with a butcher's knife, Mr. Bucket crushed a man's skull with a rock. The victim was a fellow inmate who made a crack about Mr. Bucket's prediliction for balls popping in and out of his mouth. Witnesses claim Bucket became enraged at this slight and at first chance exacted his brutal revenge in the exercise yard. Because of this, Mr. Bucket gained a reputation as an inmate not to be trifled with, and the resultant trial from the incident concluded in a hung jury. Mr. Bucket is currently awaiting a new trial in protective custody.
