Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (first aired December 18, 1962) was the first episode of a TV animated series entitled The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo, which placed the Mr. Magoo character into various well-known stories. It was produced by the UPA animation studio in its fading days, as the studio found it could not adapt to the rigors of mass-producing cartoons for television.
In spite of the lack of creativity seen in most UPA cartoons of the early 1960s, something special happened to infuse Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol with warmth, vitality, and the "holiday spirit".
Audiences and critics consider this episode to be a holiday delight, the best of many animated adaptations of Charles Dickens' famous short story A Christmas Carol, and perhaps one of the best portrayals of the story ever.
Much of this entry's energy comes from the original songs of the Broadway team of Jule Styne and Bob Merrill (Funny Girl).
This episode was broadcast as a TV special many times during the Christmas season from the 1960s through the 1980s, before being released on VHS and, later, DVD.
The story is the familiar Dickens tale with Mr. Magoo cast as Ebenezer Scrooge and Gerald McBoing-Boing (in a speaking role) as Tiny Tim.
