Mudassar Nazar (born April 6, 1956, Lahore, Punjab) is a former Pakistani cricketer with a career in Test cricket for Pakistan and in league cricket in Pakistan and England. After retiring from professional cricket, he has had a number of administrative positions in the cricketing world, including coach for Zimbabwe and for several other teams.Summary of CareerMudassar Nazar made his debut in Test cricket for Pakistan against Australia in Adelaide on December 24, 1976. The son of Test cricketer Nazar Mohammad, he, like his father, became Pakistan's opening batsman. However, his career as a Test cricketer was not spectacular, and probably suffered from his partner, Mohsin Khan, being a better cricketer. He played for many prominent league teams in Pakistan, and played his last Test match against New Zealand at Auckland on February 28, 1989, but he continued playing first-class cricket until 1993. He became only the second Pakistani to carry the bat as an opener in the fifth test of the 1982-83 series against India, the first one being his father Nazar Mohammad. After retiring from professional cricket, Mudassar has coached a number of teams, including Zimbabwe's national team, which he coached for the season of 2005.
