Multiple coil magnet
Encyclopedia : M : MU : MUL : Multiple coil magnet
The multiple-coil magnet was invented by Joseph Henry in 1831. It is an electromagnet that has several coils of wire connected in parallel. This increases the total electric current in the electromagnet and therefore generates a stronger magnetic field. Henry's work on strong electromagnets was important in the later development of electric motors.
