Murg

The Murg is a right tributary of the Rhine, located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It´s origin is in Obertal where the rivers Rechtmurg and Rotmurg conjunct. It rises in the Black Forest, and flows through Baiersbronn, Forbach, Gaggenau, and Gernsbach before reaching the Rhine at Rastatt. Its length is 96 km; its drainage area has a size of 637 km². Ist delta area is nowadays 1.5 km west of the delta before engineer Johann Gottfried Tulla regulated the rhine duvet. In the past the Murg was of importance for the business of the raftsmen. Wood was rafted till Steinmauern, where it was died and combined to bigger piles. From Steinmauern the piles where rafted until Mannheim, and from there to the Netherlands
