Music of the Ainur
Encyclopedia : M : MU : MUS : Music of the Ainur
The Music of the Ainur is the English translation of Ainulindalë, the fictional Quenya title of Middle-earth's cosmogonical myth. It was written by J. R. R. Tolkien and placed as the first section of his posthumously edited and published work, The Silmarillion.
In Tolkien's fictional universe, the Ainur are Middle-earth's divine beings. In 'Heaven', before Time, they compose a Great Music. This Music is revealed to be the template, or blueprint, commensurable with the entire history of Middle-earth (beginning to end).
The Music of the Ainur is later made manifest (objective, real) by a single-word command of Ilúvatar's.
