History

Muhammad's era

Among the first Muslim entertainers can be found those that are reported in Sahih Bukhari.

1900

In 1949, the albino Salif Keita was born.

Cat Stevens became a Muslim after a near-death experience. A decade later, controversy arose when he was reported to have made comments supporting a fatwa against author Salman Rushdie, and in 2004 returned to the public eye when he was denied entry into the United States after his name appeared on a no-fly list, even though he was not suspected of anything.

2000

Among the events of the 21th century, is the claim that Michael Jackson first entered NOI, and later mainstream Islam. Also, earlier did Will Smith made some coments that arose speculations regarding him becoming a Muslim, his representatives later stated that he did not become a Muslim, but that he was favorable to the religion. In the same period, Smith was working with the Muslim Muhammad Ali on a biographical movie.
