Muut
Encyclopedia : M : MU : MUU : Muut
Muut was the personification of death in the Cahuilla Indian culture, and was usually depicted as an owl. Death was considered a necessary part of life by the Cahuilla, and thus Muut was seen as more of a psychopomp than a frightening grim-reaper character. The Cahuilla were an American Indian tribe that inhabited portions of America now making up part of southern California and norther Mexico.
