Encyclopedia : M : MY : MYC : Mycoplasmas
Myocoplasmas, the smallest known free-living organisms are able to grow in very simple culture media. These organisms differ from other bacteria by having no cell wall structure, allowing them to form into any shape and thus making them hard to identify. They can also be hard to culture in the lab, leading to them being overlooked as a cause of the disease in question.
