Nørhald municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 201 km², and has a total population of 8.627 (2005). Its mayor is Anders Buhl-Christensen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Tvede.
Neighboring municipalities with land connection are Mariager to the north, and Purhus and Randers to the west. Rougsø to the east is separated from the municipality by the waters of Randers Fjord flowing in from the Ålborg Bay (Ålborg Bugt). Sønderhald to the south is separated from the municipality by the waters of Guden River (Gudenå) flowing in from Randers Fjord. Ålborg Bay and Randers Fjord define the municipality's eastern border, and the Guden River defines its southern border. Beyond Ålborg Bay lies the waters of the Kattegat, the strait which separates Denmark from Sweden.
By January 1, 2007 Nørhald municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Purhus, Randers, and a portion of each of the following municipalities— Langå, Sønderhald, and Mariager— to form an enlarged Randers municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 793 km² and a total population of 96,409 (2005). The municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
