N-Acetylmuramic acid, or MurNAc, is the ether of lactic acid and N-acetyl glucosamine with a chemical formula of C11H19NO8. It is part of the bacterial cell wall, a biopolymer build from alternating units of N-acetyl glucosamine (GlcNAc) and N-acetyl muramic acid (MurNAc), cross-linked with oligopeptides at the lactic acid residue of MurNAc. The so formed layered structure is called peptidoglycan.

The CAS number of N-acetyl muramic acid is 1114-41-6.
MurNAc is a monosaccharide derivative of glucose.
