NMT (N-Methyltryptamine, monomethyltryptamine) is a tryptamine alkaloid that has been found in the bark, shoots and leaves of several species of Virola, Acacia and Mimosa. It is found in numerous plants, many of which also contain the entheogens DMT and 5-MeO-DMT. However, it is unknown if NMT contributes to the psychodynamic properties of the various plants it is found in, or produces any psychoactive effects.
