N.M.E. Combatants (Kirby)
Encyclopedia : N : NM : NME : N.M.E. Combatants (Kirby)
N.M.E. Combatants are fictional characters from the [[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]] anime. They appear in various episodes and appear to be very common monsters, plus there are several of them. Their type is Zako, which explains that Kirby seems to have been able to defeat them all quite easily. There are many different types of N.M.E. Combatants, the first four kinds which are monsters.
Mini-Monsters
These mini-monsters are always capable of causing lots of trouble for their size. They tend to invade everywhere they go, and be really annoying to people.
They have so far appeared in two episodes:
- Oh no! The Search for the Soldier's House (A Blockbuster Battle) - In this episode they make a brief appearance in the beginning of the episode, and when "Now that we know your opponent is Kirby, all our monsters have new, improved attack powers." says the NME Salesman to King Dedede, that's when they start pounding on their own salesman until they stop, and he says, "See what I mean?"
- Majuu Hunter Knuckle Joe! (Monster Management) - Knuckle Joe supplies King Dedede with multitudes of these mini-monsters and Kirby inhales them all as they invade both King Dedede's castle and Cappy Town.
The chess monsters are only seen in one episode, that episode being "What?! Showdown with Lord Meta Knight", aired in the USA as "Kirby's Duel Role". Interestingly, the chess monsters seem to not only be based on royalty and real chess pieces, they also seem to be based on various legendary mythical creatures like Kappa. You see them in Kabu's flashback to when Nightmare put out a sphere that stabbed his finger with a sword, as in when he made a monster that wouldn't obey his orders.
These are the monsters you always see in Meta Knight's flashbacks. Each of these monsters can be an arthropod, sea creature, mammal, or dragon. They appear to be the main monsters in the Cloaked Nightmare's arsenal, and are famous for having ended their war with the Star Warriors in their favor.
Interestingly, the monsters seem to be based on various Kaiju, monsters, or other characters from other multimedia. For example, there's the walrus-looking monsters, which may resemble the Kaiju Gorath, the Digimon Ikkakumon, and/or the Pokémon Walrein. The pterodactyl-looking monsters seem to be based on Gyaos from the Gamera series, and the massive silver dragons seem to bear a distinct resemblance to Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
The monsters have so far appeared in these episodes:
- Secret of the Star Warrior (Dark and Stormy Knight) - Seen in the flashback to Meta Knight's past.
- Knuckle Joe Arrives! (Here Comes the Son) - Seen in the Knuckle Joe's Father flashback.
- Visiting Ninja, Benikage! (Ninja Binge) - Seen in the flashback with the ninjas and Yamikage.
- Loyalty! Sword and Blade (Sword and Blade, Loyal and True/Hour of the WolfWrath) - Seen briefly in the beginning of Sword Knight and Blade Knight's flashback to when they first met Meta Knight.
- Viva! Welcome to Dede-Vegas (Abusement Park) - They're seen in the command center in Nightmare's Fortress. When Kirby is uploaded to Nightmare Enterprises after inhaling Walky and becoming Mike Kirby, the monsters are about to come at him with their jaws open, but they can't because Kirby is singing so loud that they soon explode, and the Salesguy can't stand it and decides to send Kirby back to Dreamland.
- Knuckle Joe Escapes! (Masher 2.0) - Seen with Masher 2.0. Despite the injuries he got from it, Knuckle Joe clobbers them all one by one with his series of Smash Punches and Vulcan Jabs.
