NAV CANADA

NAV CANADA is a privately-owned corporation that owns Canada's civil air navigation service. It has been responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic in Canadian airspace since receiving this duty from Transport Canada in 1996. Nav Canada remains a capital, not for profit, organisation even though it operates independently of government funding.
NAV CANADA's operations consist of various sites across the country. These include:
- About 1,400 ground-based navigation aids
- 66 Flight Service Stations
- 6 Flight Information Centres
- 42 Control Towers
- 41 radar sites
- 7 Area Control Centres, one each in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montréal, Moncton, and Gander
- 1 National Operations Centre in Ottawa
