The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics of Finland are used for statistical purposes in a European Union context. The NUTS codes for Finland divides the country on three levels:
- At the first level Mainland Finland is separated from the autonomous Åland Islands.
- At the second level Mainland Finland is divided into four "Suuralueet", "Storområden", or Large Areas. Three of these Large Areas are similarly named to three of the Provinces of Finland: Southern Finland, Eastern Finland and Western Finland, but follow different lines of division.
- At the third level the divisions of Mainland Finland follows the boundaries of the Regions of Finland.
