Nagao Tamekage

(????-1536) was the son of Nagao Yoshikage. Tamekage was originally a governor of Echigo, under the Uesugi, but became involved in battles between many other warlords of the Uesugi during 1509. During the year of 1520 he attacked the Etchu Province, obliterating the Shiina family, along with forcing the suicide of Jinbo Yoshimune.
Tamekage was later attacked by the Ikko-Ikki, and was killed by the likes of Enami Kazuyori around the year of 1536. Tora gozen, the wife of Tamekage and the mother of Uesugi Kenshin, lived to 1568 in the Kasugayama Castle. Tamekage was succeeded by his son, Nagao Harukage.
