Nagbahal
Encyclopedia : N : NA : NAG : Nagbahal
Nagbahal is located at the heart of Lalitpur City in Kathmandu Valley, in Nepal. Around 5000 people live in the Nagbahal community comprising of mainly Newar ethnic groups. The history of the Nagbahal and neighbouring Golden Temple goes back to 11th century. Almost all of the residents of this beautiful courtyard are Buddhists and are affiliated to the "Sangha" of the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, popularly known as the Golden Temple. The main shrine of the courtyard is located at the center inside a lone-standing two-storey building with tile roof. Another important feature of Nagbahal is a water spout dating back to the ancient history of Nepal, which clearly suggests that the area was already inhibited well before the first century.[[Citing sources citation needed]]
