The Nanjing Metro is a metro system in the city of Nanjing, China. It is referred to as a light rail system in Chinese terminology. Construction began in 2000 first lines from Maigaoqiao - Xiaohang and Xiaohang - Olympic Stadium were completed in 2005.

Line 1 is 17 km with 13 stations and line 2 will have 20 stations. Line 3 will be 17 km and extended to 43 km when completed. Construction will take place between 2006 and 2009.
