Narok

Narok is a town in south-west Kenya, capital of the Narok District. Narok has a population of around 40,000, mostly Maasai[link].

The Narok District is located in the Rift Valley Province, and has a population of 365,750. The ditrict is divided into eight administrative divisions: Narok Central, Loita, Mara, Mau, Mulot, Olokurto, Ololulunga and Osupuko.

Along with Kisii District, Narok District has been identified as having the highest level of practice of female circumcision in the country[link] (2003).
