The "National Banner Song" ("國旗歌; gúoqí gē") of the Republic of China is played during the raising and lowering of the Flag of the Republic of China.
Due to pressure from the People's Republic of China over the political status of Taiwan, this song is played in place of the ROC national anthem at international events such as the Olympic Games where the ROC team also plays as "Chinese Taipei." Nonetheless, this song is in a way less controversial than the national anthem, in part because it is less partisan in nature (since the national anthem was also first the KMT party song). During the 2004 Summer Olympics, Chinese Taipei won its first gold medals under these restrictions, and the Banner Song was played at the cermonial raising of the flag of the gold medal team.
The lyrics were written in Classical Chinese by Tai Ch'uan-hsien, who had also contributed to the lyrics of the National Anthem of the Republic of China. The music was composed by Huang Tzu (黃自, Huáng Zì).

Translation
- Lo! The glorious landscape with bountiful goods!
- Daughters and sons of Emperors Yan and Huang count as heroes of East Asia!
- Do not dismiss yourselves! Do not hold yourselves back!
- Further glorify our nation and work towards harmony!
- Creating the nation is difficult, so remember our founders!
- Maintaining it is not easy either, so do not be short-sighted!
- With one heart and one spirit, keep pressing to the goal!
- Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth!
